About The Youth Chinese Test
  • The Youth Chinese Test (YCT), an international standardized test for Chinese language proficiency, assesses primary and secondary school students' abilities to use Chinese as a second language in their daily and academic life.
    Hi-Talk Mandarin provides a systematic, scientific and interesting YCT preparation program that follows the exam syllabus and helps students to pass the YCT exam successfully.

The different levels of the new YCT are similar to some of the levels in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEF); details are as follows:

Each grade of the GAPSK Kindergarten Putonghua Proficiency Exam is subdivided into two grades, namely Excellence I and II, Outstanding I and II, Superior I and II, and Satisfactory I and II. And the number of Star is used as a method to express achievements, which is easy for children to accept and has an encouraging effect.
Kindergarten students are free to choose their examination group, but all candidates taking the Advanced Group examination must take the Elementary or Intermediate Group examination (one of the levels) and achieve a benchmark level or above (60 points or above) firstly.

About TSC Exam
TSC exam content and grading
  • Introductory:Level 1-2
  • Primary:Level 3-5
  • Intermediate:Level 6-7
  • Advanced:Level 8-10
The TSC test is divided into 7 parts:
  • Part 1
    Self-introduction, which is used to assess the candidate's “voice impression”. Answers are not counted towards the overall score, but will have a slight impact on the judgment.
  • Part 2
    Quick answers to 4 questions based on a picture. Candidates will be shown a picture and then listen a question. After a 2-second beep, the candidate will begin to answer the question.
  • Part 3
    Situational Quick Answer, 5 questions in total. Candidates will be required to take on the role of a character in a conversation and give a reasoned response to the question.
  • Part 4
    Short Answers, 5 questions in total. Candidates are required to give short, fluent and reasonable answers to the questions in relation to real life situations.
  • Part 5
    Extended Answers, 4 questions. Candidates are required to express their opinions on popular topics or hot social phenomena.
  • Part 6
    Scenario Response Questions, totaling 3 questions. The questions in this part assume a scenario, and candidates need to propose reasonable and specific solutions to the problems occurring in this scenario.
  • Part 7
    Look at 4 pictures and tell a story. Learners need to describe the pictures and connect them into a story, requiring them to be able to make a long presentation.
